We each have 24 hours in a day and 168 each week to accomplish ALL the items on our to-do list. How do you maximize your time each day so as to be profitable in your business?Â Â Â Â
Before we answer that question, letâ€™s talk about one of the most common pitfalls you need to avoid â€“ setting yourself up as an employee of your company instead of being the business owner. Remember, a business owner can earn money regardless of whether sheâ€™s sitting on the beach on vacation or working in the office. Their income shouldnâ€™t stop if they decide to take a break.
Sadly, this isnâ€™t the case with most virtual assistants. One way to make sure that you arenâ€™t chaining yourself to your desk and never able to take a break is that you learn how to make the best use of your time. Successful entrepreneurs learn to get tasks done faster and more efficiently so that they can increase revenue. Are there tasks that you could speed up by employing technology?
For example, one time-consuming chore is setting up conference calls and meetings with people. Once, I had a client who needed individual one-on-one calls with each of his clients. As his VA I cheerfully did as he asked and spent over ten hours coordinating everything. Now, if he had used service such as Tungle or TimeDriver, his clients could have picked their times, changed them, canceled them, etc. in a fraction of the time at a very low yearly cost of $29.00 (or even free)! He spent twenty times that amount by having me do it manually!
As virtual assistants running our own business, we donâ€™t want to find our potential billable time being wasted because of antiquated systems and habits. There are many tools available on the Internet that will help you to speed up your invoicing; project management, marketing and other recurring tasks. Thus, youâ€™ll free up your time to work with more clients, create other revenue streams or take a well-deserved break from your business.
As virtual assistants, we always need to find ideas and seek out opportunities that will allow us to use our time to serve our clients and our business more efficiently.
