Turning Your Website Into A Client Attractive Marketing Tool

Smart virtual assistants recognize the power the Internet has to build their reputation and bring new clients to their doors. We often invest money in a beautiful site, launch it and expect to be flooded with new clients. Unfortunately, they don’t usually come. A beautiful web design and catchy business name is not enough to attract clients anymore.

Just as in the brick-and-mortar world, location, location, location is one of the most important things you can learn about when it comes to the Internet. And the way to make your website prime real estate is by achieving a good page ranking on Google.

While Google isn’t the only search engine available, at the time of this writing it is setting the search engine standards. So it only makes sense that in order to win traffic from the competition, we’ll have to do it on Google’s terms. So here are a few tips to start you on your way.

  1. Google Ranks Pages, not websites. If you have a website that is horrific in appearance but rich in content, you’ll beat out a competitor’s perfectly aesthetic website every time. So, as you add content to you websites, choose key phrases and words that people would use to find your service. The Internet abounds with them. Google and sites such as SEOTools.com have key word research tools to help you.
  2. The Two Types of SEO. Google uses two different criteria to rank websites. One is called On Page Search Engine Optimization and this involves the proper use of keywords as well as site structure, title tags, meta tags (both description and keyword tags) as well as the way you use in-site linkage. An example of an in-site link would be the way your Navigation Bar links to the other pages on your site, as well as references in your content that take the visitor to another related page. The other type of SEO is called Off Page SEO and this refers to how many sites are voting for your site by linking to your website pages. The On Page SEO relies on the secret formulas setup by Google. The Off Page SEO is more interested in how people are reacting to your website. So if you get all of the formulaic pieces done correctly and have no one linking to your content or website, this will lower your score and in the spirit of Monopoly, throw you right off Boardwalk straight to Baltic Avenue.
  3. Fresh Unique Content. Google rewards websites that are updated frequently with new information. And this should be authentically new content, not keyword-speak. In the past some people have tried to pack a lot of keywords on their pages, but the actual content made little sense to its human visitors and so instead of increasing customers, it actually worked to turn people away. The easiest way to create regular content on your site is to incorporate a blog and post on it at least 3 times per week. This has the added benefit of positioning you as expert and allowing prospective clients to get to know you with no risk.

Learning how to make you business more visible on the web takes time, energy and financial resources. And in most cases, it helps to have someone who doesn’t speak geek-speak to talk you through it all.
