Get New Clients, How? – Part I

POSITIONING

With any endeavor in life, we try to put ourselves in the best position possible to get the things we need in life.  When you were in grade school perhaps you thought about going to college so that you would be in a better “position” to obtain a good paying job.  (More than likely you weren’t taught to start your own business when you were in high school).  Now that you are running your own business, it is your ultimate goal to make your business a thriving one.

How can you position yourself to do this?  You want to create buzz about who you are and what you have to offer the world! You want it to be known that your virtual assistance company is the best choice for your clients – right?  If you feel this way, then be sure to keep reading the rest of the blog post.

Positioning is the key to building a successful business of any kind.  All thriving businesses understand the great importance of being in the right place at the right time.  It is just as when an infielder in baseball sees a pop fly coming.  The key for him to catch the ball is to get in the right position!  Is your business in position to serve that many clients that are screaming for your help?  If not, how do you get into position?

You put your business in the best position to get new clients when you have defined a target audience.  If you have not chosen a target audience to serve, you will be like all of the fans who sit at a ball game and hope for a home run or foul ball so that they can take home a souvenir.  Do you know how rare it is for a baseball fan to catch a ball in the stands?  I don’t want your business to be one that rarely enrolls new clients in your practice.  So, let’s get back to talking about how you can be in the right position.

When you choose a target audience, you will always know how and where to find this group of professionals.  If you choose to work with personal trainers or accountants, that specificity will allow you to find new prospects.  Additionally, when prospects see that you are THE expert virtual assistant who works with people just like them, you will become more attractive to new clients. You heard that correctly!  Having a targeted audience positions YOU as the expert that others will want to work with.  Who does not want to be in a position like that? You gain greater visibility to the people that you are meant to serve.

We would love to hear your comments. What is your target audience? How has your business benefitted from choosing that target audience?
