  • Love this story, thanks!!!

  • I would like to know what setup one would need to start a VA business. Here in the small island of Malta, this is virtually unknown and i would really like to know what it takes to start my own business. Although I see a lot of adverts and blog correspondence about VAs and VA jobs in the US, I have never seen anything from our European counterparts. Could it be that VAs are not so much requested on the European side? I appreciate any suggestions / comments / advice you can give me. Thank you for your help.

  • This is a motivating and informative article. I also love the graphic at the top indicating the steps UP from EA to VA, which just goes to show that by making such a move, you promote yourself.

  • Thanks Jaynae, is there anything in particular that stood out to you?

  • Hello Marcette, there are virtual assistants all over the world. The key to being successful in business is that you solve problems for other business owners. Take a look at the skills that you have been paid for in the past. Likely, there is a market for you to use those same skills to become self-employed.

  • Greetings Rita! Thank you for writing in and for the compliment. Please let us know if we can be of assistance to you at all.

  • Love the article! I recently purchased through FabJob.com how to become a Virtual Assistant. I have been a Receptionist, Admin and Exec Assistant, and now I am ready to go out on my own. I’m stuck on how to get clients. Can you help me?

  • Great article… Always seems easier than done. What advice do you have for those living in a big city that “appears” to be over saturated in your field — how do you stand out to get more business in order to step out full time as a VA?

  • Hello Diadra. The beautiful thing about working virtually is that your clients don’t have to reside in your city. You use your computer and other technology to connect with your clients whether they are in your city or are in another country. So, location isn’t the problem. The key is knowing how to solve problems for the people who need you most. You need to find the people who need the type of help that you provide. Check out the link above that I posted which has several blog posts on how to market your business and enroll new clients.
